About The Director

Alyssa has brought with her over 30 years of dance experience.  She was
selected and began her dance career with the nationally and
internationally recognized Noretta Dunworth’s School of Dance where she
performed as one of there featured artists.  Under the direction of Noretta
Dunworth, Alyssa was one of the major artists with the prestigious
Dearborn Ballet Company and played lead roles in performances such as
Coppelia and The Nutcracker.  She is nationally recognized, graded and
pass commended in the Checetti method of ballet.  As a national dance
champion, Alyssa was recognized and trained with Tap Master, Henry
LeTang, who taught such greats as Gregory Hines and Debbie Allen.  As
Alyssa continued to expand her dance expertise, she has worked with
nationally recognized choreographer, Ray Leeper, where she began
integrating her style with his powerful, passionate and inspirational form
of jazz.  She has attended summer and winter intensive classes at
nationally recognized Gus Giordano’s Dance Company in Evanston Illinois
and STEPS on Broadway in New York. Alyssa was selected into the
prestigious University of South Florida’s Fine Arts Dance Company where
she has trained under many contemporary artists.  She was an original
charter dance team member and was an instructor for five years  under
the direction of Penny Knox.

Alyssa was recognized and awarded as one of the youngest artists to be
inducted into Who’s Who in American Dance.  Over the years she has
received numerous national and international awards.  Locally she has
choreographed many stage productions and community events such as
Grease, Oliver, Mr. Panther and Miss Lecanto High School and many other
drama performances and private individual students.  Alyssa has
performed on a major cruise line where she was offered the position as
head choreographer and lead dancer.  Alyssa has won numerous talent
show titles including the Marion County talent showcase championship.  
With her pageantry experience, Alyssa has held many titles including Miss
Teen Citrus County runner – up, Miss Teen Sunburst Citrus County 2001,
Miss Sweetheart Citrus County (2003).  She was recognized with a feature
article in the Lecanto Panther Prowl Newspaper for her dedication and
contributions to the fine arts.

Alyssa is a 2002 Summa Cum Laude graduate from Lecanto High School
where she was involved in numerous varsity sports and activities.  Alyssa
then attended Central Florida Community College through the Community
of Scholars honors program.  There she graduated top honors with her
Associate Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Dance
Education.  Alyssa then graduated  with honors from Saint Leo University
where she obtained her Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education with a
minor in Dance Arts.  Alyssa’s endeavors have brought her to be a
participant in the Miss Florida USA pageant and preliminary pageants.
Alyssa was recently honored and will be featured in an article by Pageantry
Magazine with the Spirit Award for her unquestionable deeds, generous
actions and role to promote the noble causes and personal growth
opportunities which the pageant, fashion, talent, dance, and modeling
industries have to offer.  Alyssa has been nominated two years in a row for
Teacher Of The Year at Forest Ridge Elementary School.  Alyssa has also
recently been awarded Most Admired Woman In The Arts by the Citrus
County Chronicle and Altrusa International of Citrus County Florida.  
Because of her knowledge and experience, Alyssa is associated with many
dance related organizations and affiliations and is a qualified member of:
Dance Educators of America (DEA), Professional Dance Teacher’s
Association (PDTA), National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) and the
Florida Dance Education Organization (FDEO).  Alyssa is a certified
elementary school teacher in the state of Florida.

Alyssa’s personal philosophy which she instills in her students is that
success is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.  It takes a minute to dream
it, but with persistence and dedication anyone can achieve their future
goals.
